so in case you havent noticed, there has been lots of snow this winter; some might even say more snow than normal. due to our white winter friend, i just had wonderful "evening of friendship and merriment" (let the right one in) with my wonderful roommate monica. :)
the evening began when i arrived home from yoga, covered in snow because the rain that was forecasted for this evening had turned into at least four inches of snow. being the stubborn people we are we decided to have dance practice anyways because the weather wasnt that bad. we left our home and began walking down our streeet towards the sky train and noticed, twelve cars attempting to escape the gridlock on nanimo but getting stuck on the side streets instead. after about two minutes we had decided to call of dance practice and began walking around observing what was going on. our first stop was fort awesome, where tyler kindly gave us a bucket of ash from thier fire place. who knew that ash gave the best traction ever! we walked back to 19th and proceed to unclog the road, with our masterful, ash and car pushing skills. i would say that if it was not for monica and i there would be at least two cars that would not have gotten home this evening. we then proceeded towards nanimo and watched in awe and dismay as people tried to get up a hill on a the street littered with cars displaying hazard signals.
then once we got back home, we shovelled the walk for ronald our landlord and made a snowman!! :) it was a great snow man with twiggs for arms, gold coins for eyes, ash for a mouth and a carrot for his nose. it was really a wonderful evening, i am glad that it snowed tonight, although many i think would disagree with me.
now, wonderful feelings aside, i am also feeling torn about the snow. this weather is absolutely ridiculous for vancouver! what is going on with our world's climate, i find it hard to think with the evidence all around us that people still dont believe that climate change is real. its real and happening all around us.

catharsis
So the other day, which happened to be New Years Eve, I wasnt having such a good day. The cause of which I will not go into, however as it turns out I am creative person when I am mad. :) For a long time I have been wanting to burn an image into my coffee table, which I know might seem a little odd. I have never really known what ti put on a coffee table, or even if the image that I were to draw would be any good. Well, with my pencil as my tool for cathartic release, before my very eyes, an image appeared on my coffee table. It was amazing, like she had always been there but no one had taken the time to look for her. The more I looked the more there was hidden in the wood of my coffee table. I remember in my Art History class talking about artists in the renaissance who would carve sculptures out of blocks of stone. We talked about how these artists were able to look at a block of stone and an image would appear before them as if waiting in the stone. Well, that is how I feel about this image, I dont think I actually drew it, I felt the whole time like I was tracing what was already there.
Anyways, thanks to my wonderful friend Amanda, who also happens to be my neighbor, and who also happens to own a wood burning kit, I was able to complete my art today. Although now looking at it I think that I would like to add more depth to the image, but for tonight I am finished. The reason that I am posting this here, it because I am pritty sure that only four people even read this blog and I dont mind four people knowing that I burned an image into my coffee table. I am also sure all of you love me and wont less of me for doing this little project.
Anyways so here, she is, my coffee table, let me know what you think!
